On the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore, nestled at the base of Monte Sasso del Ferro, lies Laveno Mombello, a center from which scenic routes branch out in all directions.
Framing the lakeside landscape is a crown of the Ticino Alps and the Verbania mountains rising on the horizon: a stunning destination, easily accessible by boat, with the possibility of stopping by the Borromean Islands archipelago.
Deemed by some as the tourism capital of the eastern shore, Laveno distinguished itself during the 19th and 20th centuries as a renowned ceramics production hub. In 1971, the 16th-century Palazzo Perabò was opened to the public as the MIDeC (Museo Internazionale del Design Ceramico), featuring a monumental collection of ceramic works and hosting artists of the caliber of Portaluppi, Campi, Andlovitz, Biancini, Melandri and Gariboldi.
As a central link for international tourism traveling toward Switzerland on one side and Milan on the other, Laveno Mombello is the perfect destination for those seeking immersion in nature without sacrificing cultural attractions.
And it is right on the Laveno coast that, for the spring of 2025, we have decided to offer an immersive experience in the world of art, through which we will strive to impart both practical and theoretical skills to our students.
Gallerist and founder of 89 art gallery, Stefano Silvestri is an emerging figure in the contemporary art market scene. His mission is to promote and spread modern and contemporary art, highlighting works that represent the evolution of artistic language and the visual exploration of our times.
Throughout his career, Silvestri has curated exhibitions of emerging and prominent artists such as Angelo Accardi, Giorgio Tentolini, Antonio Pedretti, Giorgio Laveri, Stefano Bombardieri, helping to elevate their work and international influence. His gallery stands out for its innovative approach and the passion with which he selects artists whose diverse styles and techniques tell stories of great cultural and social relevance.
Each exhibition offers the public a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in artistic experiences, thanks to the visionary perspective of a gallerist who recognizes and supports the value of the most significant works on the contemporary art scene.
Stefano will be the instructor for the course section on the Art Market. You can turn to him with any questions related to the diverse world of the art market, including pricing and selling artworks, art law, exhibitions, and art fairs.
Born in Milan, Francesco trained as a chemist at the University of Milan. This scientific background had a significant impact on the way he approached art and on his attention for details. Francesco is a multidisciplinary artist, working in oils, watercolour, and soft pastels, with a strong foundation in drawing. His work has been exhibited in Italy and in France.
He has had a wide range of teaching experience, and he provides supportive guidance to each student he works with.
Trained as a jurist in Milan, her lifelong passion for art prompted her to start collaborating with the 89cento Art Gallery since 2022, working as an art critic, curator, and content creator.
As the workshop coordinator, she will be present throughout the course: you can turn to her for any needs or information requests.
This course is designed to strengthen the technique of students who wish to improve their oil painting skills while simultaneously developing specific competencies in art history and the practical realities of art galleries.
Students will receive personal support throughout the course from professionals in the field, with whom they can interact for any educational exchange.
At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate of participation and the materials shared during the lessons: a useful tool for continuing individual study and preserving memories of the experience.
